If you’re going on a long trip and need to bring a lot of supplies with you, you can’t go wrong with anything made out of the water, canned goods and other non-perishables. Just be sure to check the boxes at the end of your trip. You’re never going to get this stuff packed in the car and onto the plane!

You should have all the useful items for traveling and also bring enough clothing and accessories to last you for months and months, without getting out of control. You want to look your best, right? Then wear a good pair of running shoes and a couple of layers of clothing that keep you comfortable when you’re hot and humid.

1. Don’t Forget the Map

It’s a no-brainer to bring a map and a layover somewhere if you’re going on a long trip. You don’t want to forget your map in the middle of nowhere. You want to mark your location on the map so you can find your way back. But you don’t have to find your way back to your hotel every day is a bummer when you’re only halfway there!

And sometimes you don’t know where you are! Sometimes you’re in a village in Thailand and then you’re in a monastery in the desert. You might not even remember which direction you’re in! So having a layover map is a great idea. You can use it to help you navigate the busy city streets or the desert sand.

2. Boarding Passes

The Boarding passes are important to travel and they help passengers get to their destination. When you travel on long trips you want to bring your boarding pass with you. You need to sign when you get on the plane and they let you in. Just be sure to bring your passport and boarding pass with you as you can travel without it.

3. Bags

If you’re bringing a lot of bags with you, there are bags, bags and more bags to bring. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re packed.

  • Keep the bottom section of your bag as free as you can. This can be your only bag.
  • If you’re bringing a backpack or briefcase, keep it as close to your body as possible. Keeping your bag close to your body can be a liability if you’re carrying them around with you and getting in an accident.
  • If you’re bringing a cooler, keep it as low as possible in your bag. Not only is it likely to get dropped open if you’re carrying it around with you all day, but it will also be very difficult to get back in position to upright when you’re back in your hotel room.
  • If you’re bringing an umbrella, keep it as close to your body as possible. Umbrellas are wonderful when you’re in the desert or in need of some extra protection from the sun.
  • If you’re bringing a backpack or briefcase, make sure it’s as small as you can keep. This may seem like common sense, but when you’re carrying a lot of bags it can be difficult to keep all of them as inconspicuous as possible.

4. Pens, Notches and Noggins

If you’re bringing a lot of supplies with you, you may as well bring some precision notches and noggins to make them easier to find. You want to be able to quickly identify which supplies you’ve left out.

  • If possible, put the supplies that you don’t need or want near the front of your bag. This will make it much easier to find what you need when you’re back in your hotel room.
  • If you’re bringing a camera, don’t put it in the middle of the packed bag. It’ll give everyone on the plane a chance to see what you’ve brought with you.

5. Camera

If you’re bringing a lot of cameras with you, you may as well bring some more than you need for your trip. It’s obvious what you need to take pictures of and with a lot of camera accessories you may not even realize you have extra batteries!

  • Bring at least one phone camera with you. This will make it easier to set up your phone and view your photos on the way back.
  • Bring a tripod or two with you. This will make it easier to take long shots without worrying about getting your camera out of place.
  • Bring a good quality power bank with you. This will charge your phone, laptop and other devices as you move about and take pictures.

6. Food

If you’re bringing a lot of food, you may as well bring some kind of healthy food with you. Even if you’re in a hotel, you may as well bring some kind of healthy snacks with you to keep you from feeling too hungry during your trip.

  • Bring a small grocery cart or two with you. You never know when you’re going to need it and you never know where you’re going to find it.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you, even if you’re only going for a short trip. If you come home and find that you’ve been drinking the water all day, you’re going to be really unhappy.

7. Hire a Car or Plane

If you’re bringing a lot of supplies with you and you want to be able to make a quick getaway in your car or airplane when you get a chance, bring some kind of transportation that allows you to get around quickly.

  • Bring a wheelie bin or two with you. You never know when you’re going to need them and you never know where you’re going to find them.
  • Bring a truck or SUV with you. This will allow you to get around quickly and carry a lot of supplies with you.

Conclusion

The key to traveling light is to pack as much as possible. This means choosing the right items for your trip and trying out different combinations so that you can find the combination that works best for you. Remember to pack light! You never know how long a trip will be and you never know where you’re going to be. So when it comes to your travel bag, choose the right size, weight and type of bag that will work best for you.
