City breaks are great for those that are looking for a short trip away from their usual surroundings. City breaks don’t get much attention usually but they can be just as fun and exciting as any other holiday! Depending on the type of trip, they can also be much cheaper than your usual “holiday resort” holiday too!

City travelling can be somewhat confusing however since you’ll most likely be travelling in ways you’re not used to normally. Whether you have to use a tram, bus or metro system, public transport in other cities can be very confusing. This can be quite stressful especially if you have certain things you need to do like attractions/visits putting you on a schedule!

We’ve written a few short tips for you to follow on your next city break! From making sure you’ve packed everything to assuring you’ve planned ahead of time, these tips are a good guide to follow the next time you’re venturing the concrete jungle!

Tip #1 – Make sure everything’s packed!

Most people think of city breaks as fairly simple trips but it doesn’t mean that you don’t need to think about what you’re bringing! It’s a pain to be stuck in another city without something you need, so it’s always a good idea to make a list and to pack accordingly! Your travel essentials are always going to be the same. ID, money, clothing and toiletries. Everything else can pretty much be bought anywhere! Packing your bags ahead of time always helps when you’re travelling, regardless of where you’re going!

Tip #2 – Know how to get around the city!

Doing a bit of research before you visit another city is always a good idea, especially if you’re going to be travelling around a lot! It’s good to have a general idea of where you need to be and how you’re going to get to places. You may have to depend on public transport like buses or trains which can get confusing if you’re not careful. You can also use more direct routes like taxi’s as they’ll be able to take you from A to B in no time. Reliable taxis in Bristol might be hard to come by but you need to do your research ahead of time and find a company that’s worth your time! Doing a quick internet search will usually give you what you need!

Tip #3 – Be aware of your possessions

It’s an unfortunate truth that you have to keep your wits about you when you’re travelling in the city. There will always be a threat of pickpockets when it comes to metropolitan cities. As long as you’re aware of your surroundings and you keep your belongings safe, you shouldn’t have a problem! Always keep your valuables close to you and keep them out of sight! Thieves and pickpockets will always try and spot opportunities so it’s best to not give them one! Keeping your phone, wallet and anything else that’s valuable close to you or covered is always a good idea especially in areas you don’t feel secure in.
